Gift Planning
Most parents have a strong need to give to their children. At the same time, some of them are also aware of how money can spoil the child, and fear this. Consequently, there is virtually no wealthy family that does not wrestle with the issue of giving to the next generation. What should we give? How much? Why? When? How? What tax considerations need to be factored in? How do we talk to the kids about giving? And what do we leave to our grandchildren?
Tamar Milo studied the patterns of giving in families and thanks to her efforts, the book “The Cycle of the Gift” (James E. Hughes Jr., Susan E. Massenzio and Keith Whitaker) was published in Hebrew. Tamar helps parents plan their gifts to their family. Questions relating to equality, transparency, timing, control and special family needs are answered in a few focused sessions. The insights gleaned make it easier to address the business of writing a will, a prenup, and other legal documents.
